How To make Fondant Minion

Materials:

Yellow,
light blue,
white,
black,
light gray,
light brown
and salmon colored fondant
Fondant rolling pin — 1/8″ and 1/16″ guide rings
1/4-inch wooden dowels
Modeling tool
Small modeling stick
Knife tool
Precision knife
Small circle cutter
Rolling pastry cutter
Round tips #3, #5, #10 and #12
Water/edible glue
Brushes
Silver shimmer dust
White soft gel paste
Toothpick
Raw spaghetti -

Directions:

Step 1:
Roll yellow fondant into a ball (approximately 2″ round), then shape it into an oval.

Step 2:
Use the modeling tool to indent the mouth on the minion, making sure you leave ample room at the top for the eyes and on the bottom for the overalls.

Step 3:
Roll out salmon-colored fondant with the rolling pin 1/16″ thick, and cut out a small circle with the round cutter. With your fingers, shape it to the same shape as the minion’s mouth and use edible glue to attach it inside.

Step 4:
Roll out white fondant 1/8″ thick with the rolling pin and cut out a small circle with the round cutter. With your fingers, shape it into the same shape as the Minion’s mouth. Then, with the precision knife, cut the top and bottom of the shape. Use the knife to indent teeth and glue the two pieces to the top and bottom of the mouth respectively.

Step 5:
With the small modeling stick, make indentations at the top of the Minion’s head to later insert the hair.

Step 6:
Roll out light blue fondant with the rolling pin 1/8″ thick, and use the rolling pastry cutter to cut a thick strip for the front of the overalls and a thinner strip for the straps. Trim it to size with the precision knife and glue it to the Minion with the edible glue.

Step 7:
Using the bottom of a round tip, cut out a light blue circle, then cut it in half. Glue them to the sides of the Minion, attaching to the front and back of the overalls with the straight side facing upward.

Step 8:
Make a seam pattern around the perimeter of the overalls with the small modeling stick.

Step 9:
Cut out a small light blue circle with round tip #12 and flatten the top into a straight edge to construct the front pocket. Use the small modeling stick to make a seam pattern around the perimeter of the pocket and glue it to the front of the overalls.

Step 10:
Use a pieces of raw spaghetti to make holes at the bottom of the Minion to later insert the legs and feet.

Step 11:
Roll out light gray fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels as a guide, and cut out two circles with the small round cutter. Use round tip #10 to punch out a smaller circle from the center to form the goggles. Lightly brush the goggles with the silver shimmer dust.

Step 12:
Roll out white fondant slightly thinner than the goggles and punch out two circles with round tip #10. Insert and glue them in the center of the goggles.

Step 13:
Roll out light brown and black fondant with the rolling pin 1/16″ thick. Cut out two circles with round tip #5 and two circles with round tip #3. Assemble the eyes by gluing the brown circles to the white fondant, then the black to the brown.

Step 14:
Dip a toothpick into white soft gel paste and make “glimmer” dots on the eyes. Glue the eyes to the Minion.

Step 15:
Roll out black fondant 1/8″ thick with the rolling pin and use the rolling pastry cutter to trim a strip for the goggles. Trim it to size with the precision knife and glue it to the Minion’s head.

Step 16:
Roll out black fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels as guides. Use round tip #12 to cut out two circles. Shape them into teardrops, then use the precision knife to make two slices for the fingers. Round them out with your fingers and use the knife tool to indent the opposite end to form the hands.

Step 17:
Roll out yellow fondant 1/8″ thick with the rolling pin and cut out two circles with round tip #12. Roll them into balls, then roll them with your fingers onto your work surface to form the arms. Shape them as necessary and glue them to the Minion, along with the hands.

Step 18:
Roll black fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels as guides and cut out two small circles with the round cutter. Shape them into a bit of a teardrop shape to form the minion’s shoes.

Step 19:
Roll light blue fondant thick with the rolling pin and wooden dowels as guides and cut out two circles with round tip #12. Glue the light blue circles to the shoes and insert two pieces of raw spaghetti into each. Insert them into the previously-made holes at the bottom of the Minion and glue them in place.

Step 20:
Roll out black fondant 1/8″ thick with the rolling pin and use round tip #3 to cut out as many circles as holes you made at the top of the Minion’s head. Shape them into balls, then roll them onto your work surface to form the hair. Insert and glue each hair into the holes. An alternative to fondant hair is to paint thin raw spaghetti black and insert directly into the head.
